Habitat Tempuyung grows wild in open places exposed to sunlight or slightly sheltered and on slightly moist soil, such as the edge of ditches, roadsides, between rocks, cliffs, plantations and sloping walls.

Tempuyung plants belonging to the compositae plant family usually grow in sheltered places. The leaves are smooth green with a hint of purple, wavy edges, and irregularly toothed.

Tempuyung plants can grow to about 100-150 cm. The stems of tempuyung are hairy and soft and have flowers similar to sunflowers but tempuyung are smaller than sunflowers.
